Compendium-derived brochure focuses on HAI prevention recommendations
Up in the blogosphere with The Joint Commission
The Joint Commission confirmed with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that organizations are required to have two exercises of their emergency operations plan annually (responses to actual disasters can serve in lieu of planned exercises). This is required as part of the standards that became effective on Nov. 15, 2017, in response to CMS’ Emergency Management Final Rule. This requirement applies to the following organizations, including those undergoing an initial survey:
Deemed hospitals
Critical access hospitals
Deemed home health
Deemed hospice
Deemed ambulatory surgical centers
Rural health clinics
Federally qualified health centers
For background information on the standards, see the Nov. 1, 2017 Joint Commission Online article. (Contact: Standards Interpretation Group, 630-792-5900)
